Small, Authentic, and Proudly Local
Maui Brewing Company — Kihei & Lahaina
The flagship of Hawaii craft beer. Founded in 2005, Maui Brewing has grown into one of the most respected craft breweries in the Pacific while remaining genuinely local in character. The Kihei taproom and production facility is the heart of the operation — a spacious brewpub with a full kitchen, live music, and a selection of 20+ taps rotating through their core lineup and seasonal specials.
The Big Swell IPA is their signature — well-balanced, clean, and tropical. The Bikini Blonde Lager is the sessionable warm-weather companion that every Maui afternoon calls for. CoCoNut POrter is a beloved year-round specialty. The seasonal and limited releases reward return visits. → mauibrewingco.com

Kohola Brewery — Lahaina
Named for the Hawaiian word for humpback whale, Kohola is Maui's beloved small-batch craft brewery. Operating from an industrial space in Lahaina, the taproom has a genuine community character — local regulars, rotating food trucks, and a commitment to small-batch brewing that prioritizes quality over volume.
Kohola's seasonal releases are particularly celebrated — limited runs tied to Hawaiian seasons, local ingredients, and events like whale season. The taproom's energy captures what is best about Maui's small-business community. → koholabrewery.com

MauiWine — Ulupalakua
Not a brewery, but essential to any guide to Maui's drink culture. MauiWine at Ulupalakua Ranch produces wine from pineapple, passion fruit, and other local fruits — a distinctly Hawaiian wine experience at 2,000 feet elevation with sweeping coastal views. Tasting room and tours available. → mauiwine.com
The Culture
Maui's brewing community runs deep. Both Maui Brewing and Kohola actively support local nonprofits, source ingredients from island farms when possible, and treat sustainability as genuine commitment rather than marketing. Drinking local here is a meaningful act — these businesses are part of the community fabric in a way that reflects genuine community connection.

Jolanta's Feedback
Maui Brewing in Kihei on a Friday evening is one of the most pleasant ways to end a workweek that I know. Live music, good beer, a room full of people who chose to live here.
